Art Show: Creative art works are displayed throughout the school representing the talents of students and instructors of HWES. The chairperson coordinates efforts with Art teachers to display artwork. Hanging of artwork begins a month in advance of the show.
Basket Bingo: Committee members plan, get basket sponsors and fillers, set up, and run this annual event.
Beautification: School beautification committee works to improve our buildings grounds both inside and out.
Book Fair: This committee coordinates event and solicits shift volunteers for the week long Scholastic Book Fair and family book night. The Book Fair is held in each building.
Box Tops for Education: Chairperson advertises program, collects and processes the General Mills "Box Tops for Education" coupons. This check is used my the Principal to purchase school supplies and equipment.
Bulletin Boards: Chairperson changes the PTA bulletin boards in both buildings to advertise upcoming PTA events.
Campbell's Labels for Education: Chairperson advertises program, collects and processes coupons for free merchandise that the Principal decides is needed for the school.
Christopher Terry Scholarship: Chairperson promotes and coordinates scholarship applicants received from former HWES graduates whom are currently seniors at Bel Air or Fallston High Schools and are pursing a Bachelor's degree in education.
Cultural Arts and Enrichment: The committee members work during the summer planning a diverse group of concerts and special educational assemblies to expand the student's experience beyond the classroom for the next calendar school year. The calendar of events is distributed to teachers, staff and PTA in September. Members are present on performance days to assist with set up, evaluate performances and pay the performers.
Family Fun Nights: Committee members coordinate a few family fun nights throughout the year such as game night and movie night.
Field Day: Coordinates parent volunteers to help with field day activities and provide refreshments.
Restaurant Food Nights: Works with area restaurants to set up dates that our school can purchase meals of which a portion of the proceeds will be donated back to the school.
Grocery Receipts: Promote the programs of our local area merchants that benefit our school be donating a portion of their proceeds back to the school.
Hospitality: Committee is responsible for organizing teacher/staff recognition events. Events as Bus Driver Appreciation, Teacher/Staff Holiday Luncheon, School Nurses Day, National School Counseling Week, Secretaries Day, Teacher Appreciation Week, Salute to Cafeteria and Custodial Workers. The mission of this committee is to let our teachers/staff know how much HWES families appreciate all that they do to help our children.
Kindergarten Pizza Night: Organizes this special event for our Kindergarteners and their parents to welcome them to the school.
Market Day: Chairperson advertises and processes the sale of Market Day Food Products. They also coordinate the volunteers for the distribution of the products purchased.
Membership: Chairperson coordinates the annual PTA membership drive by advertising benefits of joining PTA, distribution of membership materials and cards, collection of dues and tracking membership data. The drive begins at Back to School Night and runs for 4 weeks.
Recycling: Chairperson advertises and processes the recycling of ink cartridges and cellular telephones.
Reflections: This committee works to promote creative endeavors by our students through a National PTA program. Entries are judged on a local level, and winners are sent to County level and winners from here on to the State level competition. Chairperson coordinates the annual HWES awards ceremony recognizing all participants awarding them with ribbons and certificates based on level of achievement. All participants receive at least the participants award and ribbon.
School Spirit: This committee orders and sells items related to HWES, such as Paw Print magnets, pencils and HWES apparel.
Spring Fling: This is the HWES annual spring carnival. Its success is due to the collaboration of hundreds of parent volunteers, staff, and the excitement of the entire student body. Games, crafts, food, silent auction and raffles just to name a few of the evening?s festivities. Chairperson organizes the event with the sub committee chairpersons.
Volunteer Coordinator: : Responsible for helping find volunteers for different PTA committees and for other areas with the school such as vision and hearing screenings, office helpers, lunchroom, and the libraries. On Back to School nights the coordinator provides committee sign up sheets and then latter distributes to each committee chair a list and phone numbers of interested volunteers.
Winter Wonderland: Chairperson coordinates this winter festival of events held in December.
Yearbook: This committee publishes the HWES yearbook. They select pictures, prepare pages for printing, coordinate yearbook sale, and distribute yearbooks at the end of the year.
