Kindergarten Registration Day is the First Friday in May. Children who are age 5 on or before September 1, 2007 are eligible for kindergarten. Registration is by appointment. Pre-registration forms will be available in March. Forms will be going home with current students, and you may also obtain one by calling the school after that date. Please call 410-638-4175 and ask for the Wakefield building. For anyone who pre-registers, an appointment time will be assigned and mailed to you along with a registration packet.
Complete all information included in the packet and bring the completed packet to your appointed time on Friday, May 5th. Please also bring the following documents with you to registration: Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, Proof of Residency and Immunization Records. These documents are required before the student can enter school on the first day. Acceptable proof of residency documents are: BGE bill, lease agreement or settlement contract. We cannot accept phone bills, mortgage statements, driver’s licenses, etc. If you need more information regarding these documents visit the Harford County Public School website, www.hcps.org
Your child will also need a health physical before school begins. Documents for your doctor to complete are included in the registration packet. Please return completed documents to the Wakefield Office as soon as possible. The deadline for all health forms to be in the office is August 13, 2006.
On the first day of school kindergarteners will participate in our Gradual Entrance Program. For gradual entrance, children and their parent(s) will attend for only part of the day. A schedule will be sent home prior to the start of school with the time you will bring your child to school on the first day. The first regular, full day of school for all kindergarten students will be on the second day of school. All Harford County Public schools are now on a full day kindergarten schedule. School hours are 9:00 am. to 3:30 pm.
In early August you will receive a letter notifying you of your child’s teacher assignment as well as an individual classroom supply list for specific materials that your teacher will need. You may also find general grade level class supply lists on this web site beginning in July. (There may be a few items on the supply list sent by the teacher that are not on the general supply list.)
For busing inquiries please check the Aegis the week before school or visit the HCPS website at that time for bus information and schedules.
Have a wonderful summer and we’ll see you soon!
